We are happy to offer a new add-on program in partnership with Slam Academy for composers wishing to do more with electronic and electroacoustic music production and sound design. Designed as a one-day, two session intensive course, composer and sound-artist J Anthony Allen will guide composers in the use of Ableton, Max4Live, and Max/MSP. Furthermore, all participants will get a discount coupon code for additional course instruction through SLAM Academy, much of which can be taken online.
The day will start with a through “deep dive” of Ableton Live. We review the overall navigation of the program, followed by recording techniques in the program. Before lunch we will explore sound design concepts using Ableton’s powerful Warping engine, as well as audio and MIDI effects. After lunch we will work more compositionally, exploring different creative techniques available in Ableton Live, including build effects with MaxForLive. Students will have time, if desired, to work on their own projects with the help of the instructor.
Participants will be provided a light breakfast, coffee, water, snacks, and lunch. High speed WiFi and demo versions of the software will be available. NOTE: All participants must bring their own laptop computer (Macintosh or Windows).
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us.
